Self Assessment 4 Avon Reps – 18/19 Group Membership
This is a Facebook group is for people who have traded in their Avon Business between 6th April 2018 and 5th April 2019.
There are videos and downloadable resources available to help you do your bookkeeping for your self assessment tax return and to make the submission.
There will be tasks to complete and games to be played which will all take you to your ultimate goal of completing and submitting your tax return.
Accountability is also a large part of the group – we have a special section where everyone who has completed and submitted their self assessment will be placed on the wall of honour.
You also have the opportunity to ask questions and get help from both myself (a qualified accountant) and other more experienced group members.
When you join the group, you will also receive an exclusive wire-bound bookkeeping and business booklet in the post. It contains pages to help you book-keep as well as helpful hints and tips to help you grow your business
It is a paid membership group which is charged at £20 one off fee, 10% of which will be donated to charity. For the 18/19 tax year, the charity of choice is CoppaFeel which is one of the charities that Avon support. Each month there is be a post about how much we’ve raised to give to charity.
The group will be active until February 15th 2020, at which point the group will be archived. This means content will no longer be added to it, but it will remain searchable by members. A new group for the 19/20 tax year will be available to join which will focus on the 19/20 tax year
WHO IS A SUITABLE MEMBER?
You are likely to benefit most from joining this new group if you:
✅ are fairly new to self assessment; or
✅ completely lack the motivation to get your return done.
WHO WOULDN’T BE A SUITABLE MEMBER?
🚫 your sales are below £1000 and you have no other need to submit a return (consider the benefit of submitting a return if you are likely to be registering a loss though);
🚫 you have prepared and submitted your returns for a few years now and know what you’re doing
WHY IS £1000 SALES RELEVANT?
If your sales are below £1000 then you don’t need to submit a Self Assessment. Please make sure you have reviewed the following video carefully to make sure you are correctly applying this allowance:
I QUALIFY FOR THE £1000 ALLOWANCE, BUT MY ACTUAL EXPENSES ARE MORE THAN MY SALES, WHY WOULD IT BE USEFUL TO SUBMIT A RETURN?
If your expenses are more than your sales (which they may well be if you have been investing in your business to grow it faster), then you will find that you will be registering a loss if you were to submit these numbers. This is worth doing if:
- you are employed and pay tax through PAYE (you can choose to receive a refund for the current year);
- you expect to pay tax on profits in future years and therefore would like to carry your tax loss forward to offset against those future profits.
WHY IS THIS A PAID GROUP?
My name is Elyse, and I’m a qualified accountant. I run my own businesses, I look after my partner’s business and I’m a mummy to 1 and by May 2019 – 2 small children – my available time is minimal and precious.
I want to help Avon reps with their self assessment free of charge, but having grown the main (free) group to around 1.5k members – it is just too much work to do for free, so in some small way I need to have my time compensated for. At the end of the day, £20 is MUCH less than if you sent it all in to an accountant to process for you – so a pretty good investment!
PLUS: you support a charity, you receive an exclusive booklet that you can’t get anywhere else, and you are a member of a more exclusive support group.
This is a group for guidance and direction to publicly available information relating to self assessment and is not a substitute for personal advice from your own tax professional.
